Restoring the Body of Christ

10/05/06     God thoughts ~   Oreo

Into the Season of Martha & Mary, comes one more.    John 11.

Martha, the busy one.  She lives in the physical world.
She is the body, the service, the hands and feet of Jesus.  We need her.
Mary, the quiet one.  She lives in the spiritual world.
She is our intimacy, our connecting times, our vertical relationship and source of strength.
Lazarus, the one in the middle.

Like an oreo.  3 of them.  Two on the outside, one wrapped in the middle.

I imagine Lazarus in love with both sisters.
He loves Martha’s servant heart… grateful for her care of them.
He loves Mary’s serenity… her ability to connect to God regardless of the circumstances.
I can sense him in a peacemaker’s role,
calming the radical differences of these 2 women in one house.
Mt 5:9  Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.
He does hold them together, body and spirit.

Lazarus.  The white inside an oreo.

Our center, our mind, is what is most often attacked by satan.
Vs 30.. See how tenderly He loved him?  (Jesus loves our minds)
Jesus wept over the death of Lazarus.  He weeps over the “death” of our mind to spiritual things.

And after the joyfilled resurrection of Lazarus ~ the battle still wasn’t over.
John 12:10 the chief priests plan to put Lazarus to death also.

And so it is today. The battle for our minds is more intense than ever.

God is walking in our midst.  He just is.

You can run from Him.  Observe Him.  Analyze Him. Critique Him.  Criticize Him.  Crucify Him.

An Oreo with the filling missing, is a defect…. A reject.
Not very appealing.  It’s no fun either.

Let your mind, your Lazarus “COME FORTH”.  Let your soul embrace your Mary and Martha.
A 3 cord strand is not easily broken.   Body, soul and spirit – in unity.

There is unbreakable power in that 3 cord strand.
